Great baby knitting patterns - let's share!!

Post  kat on Fri Aug 01, 2008 12:03 am

So I knit (and crochet)...and right before Jake was born there was a bit of a knitting frenzy where I whipped up a number of items. I thought it would be fun to share which knitting patterns worked best (easiest to knit and most useful items). I wish I sewed. I bought a second hand machine thinking that I'd try but our apartment is just too small really. Maybe when we move.

Jake's most worn knit items were:

* Bella Knitting Baby Pants (if you are on Ravelry) If not find the pattern here

* Baby Converse Booties by Brooklyn Handmade

* Baby's First Cardigan from a Debbie Bliss pattern

* Kiddie Cadet

* Oh and his Oklahoma hoodie that was hand knit by Aunty Claire

I am knitting BG a Halloween costume using knitting patterns. It's going to be a devil outfit including the;

Baby Devil Hat

Baby pants that I can add a tail too

Comfy Country Kiddie

Then I'm going to make sure I use garter stitch edgings on everything to bring it all together. I also have a little baby sized "devil ducky" for her to hold Smile

There's this little viking hat that looks super cute on Lily. Kat - I'm still waiting to see a pic of Jake in the boys version you knit for him!

Then there's the EZ February Sweater which Lily would've gotten more use out of if I'd remembered to add buttonholes to the thing.http://www.ravelry.com/projects/peachtree/baby-sweater-on-two-needles-februaryhttp://www.ravelry.com/projects/peachtree/viking-girl-hat

Lucy got a lot of wear out of this Debbie Bliss designed cardigan when she was a baby.http://www.ravelry.com/projects/peachtree/v-neck-cardigan-with-contrast-ribs
And also this adorable dress.http://www.ravelry.com/projects/peachtree/thinking-dress

Most of the booties I knit for both girls didn't get worn much due to the easy-off factor, which is really too bad because a lot of them were soooo cute!

Mari got a lot of wear out of her vine lace knit cap

This one is also really cute, but I knitted it too big so it didn't fit her until she was well in to the 'no hat on my head' phase. (And metalmom, I still have yet to find the English translation I promised you! Sorry! My house is a mess but I promise it'll turn up someday.)

Let's see... the booties I knitted her did not get much wear as this is a tropical country (my pregnant brain still insisted my baby needed woolen hand knit baby booties despite the over 30 degree heat. ha ha)

I also knitted her a cute little lace tank top which I still have to take pics of, if only she would hold still for just one second!
